Academic Plan

There are a couple of reasons why im going to college, i have been trying to qaulify for a federal grant from the government, my cousin kevin goes to the Andover school and he has qualified for a grant to go to college. my choices are pretty darn simple here. so heres the battle plan: I'll go to butler for two years and then i will transfer to Wichita State University to get my degree in Criminal investigation or computer science. I think these are very good plans, and i'm really excited to be going to college and hitting the books hard and getting ready for the world that awaits me and the hard roads involved with that also. Criminal justice has always been a very good interest to me either i'll be a Police Officer or a Attorney or lawyer or something. not to sure about that yet. College will help me in the long run for getting a good job, thats mainly why I'm in college is to make the BIG BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to see my dad come home and be hurting all over and go straight to bed as soon as he got home and from that very time i knew i was not going to end up like that i am really wanting to be successful.

Using The Online Databases

This to me was a pretty good experience on the butler website and i really liked the online databases because you can just click on a couple of buttons and you type the name of your book you want to look up and your there!!!!!!!! The first thing you do is you log into your pipeline and you type your email in and your password and that pretty much is the most obvious or easiest thing to do pretty much on this thing. After your pipeline email comes up, then it will say "welcome Brian" (This is an example) and it will say that in that upper left hand corner, and you look up above that and it will say: Library Databases. Then, after you have clicked on Library Databases, click on opposing viewpoints database from the list this should be the easiest thing to do. Then From there on that list, There Should be a link that says: "Drinking Alcoholic Beverages" (This is an example) and then basically, you just look for an article you want to read and then print it off and read it. That to me is a very helpful thing to use when it comes to doing woks cited pages. i used to do a lot of works cited pages for a lot of different documents. so basically the next thing you do for this site is: you click on the citation machine link and after that you click on the link for MLA style and use the citation generator to create the citation for what ever book that you were desiring to use and thats basically it.http://www.butlercc.edu/ this link here is for the butler website but i think its a good start if you need to do something! Learning profile

2. The Best strengths as a learner i think are being organized,l motivated, and a positive attitude about everything you do as a learner. I think the #1 thing is having a positive attitude because the attitude is the way to better yourself doing a positive attitude. when i started highschool, it was very easy because it was all in one big building so that was what made it pretty. my life has been pretty ruff in the last year ive moved once and that can make the long story short. HAHA! my girlfriend has helped me alot since that all started so now i am doing alot better than before. but my parents always told me that no matter what, the positive attitude was always the answer for learning, and if a new student came to this class i would go to that person with open arms and help them learn everything i know i love helping people and ill do anything to make that new person learn something and learn something good and with knowledge. i have noticed that sometimes people dont use their values very much because those people are either in prison or even dead, they just dont use their values. A person can learn something everyday even if it is just for a second of their time. In a closing note, i plan to try as hard as i can on this journey of college and stuff that is around the corner.

3. most of this question has to do with weaknesses of a learner, i had some weaknesses and i think the first weakness was STRESS the very first day of school i was stressed, i almost didnt go to college but now that i am and a couple of weeks have gone by, i am starting to unwind but i seen everybody in this class do a really good job with everything. because i know for a fact that student connect is the easiest class at butler as far as i am concerned,i liked doing the computer work because i love computers, and sonja does a good job teaching us things that are new every single day. the second or third day of class i was stressed and sonja could tell but she gave me a couple of ideas of how to overcome stress, and im taking another class for sonja called study skills. that has worked out pretty good for me in a lot of good ways. Everything went pretty good.

4. i learned how to think harder and think of more things than what i used to, before i started this class, i couldn't do much the first part of the year. I really know how to type big paragraphs. the learning profile is the biggest one so far on this blog. i can adjust alot easier to the things in this class, just today on the 28th we watched a video on this girl that had a lot of things going for her, she was going to collge and had great parents and her dad owned his own car lot and she had a great personality toward others, Her name was sammi spady i believe, she had gone to this party and had had a couple of drinks and gotten alcohol poisoning, i believe she had over 4.0 level in her system, and that was a complete tragedy for her family, i learned that its not that cool to drink because it will bite you right back in the face like it did her, who ever reads this right now, i warn them t0 not drink, i also learned what to do to help save an intoxicated person but theres way to much to say so we will save that for another time.

5.This class had a lot to do with how to engage in student activity and college orientation and other wierd stuff, its mainly just a required course for butler for your first year or something, i made a couple of friends and had quite a bit of fun and such, i am doing this assignment so that i could pass the course with a pretty descent grade and as we speak my buddies that are done with this blogger stuff are in the library eating cookies laugh out loud!!!!! well my main thing i'm focusing on getting this long blog done so i need to get this done!!! A H H H H! H H H H H HH H H!

time management

When i started highschool, i really had it pretty easy compared to college , i was able to hang out with friends more often and go do things, but when i started going to butler, at first i became very stressed and very frusterated, but after talking to sonja about my problems i do pretty good with managing my time its usually everynight im always working on something that has to do with college or some kind of school issues, i have really learned how to pace myelf in everything i do. I lived in a different house before i graduated highschool, and i live in a different place right now as we speak. butler has put a great change on me since i started, i really started feeling confident in everything i do and im acing the test that i take, i study hard and i always check over my work before turning it in. my grandma taught math at hadley middle school and north high school in wichita Kansas. i learned most of my math, english and other stuff that had to do with schooling from my grandma. I learned things my from my teachers, but also, my grandma was there more than teachers was for me so she taught me alot. If you value your time you would be amazed at how much you can get done.here are some links of how to manage your http://www.studygs.net/timman.htm, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_management, http://www.d.umn.edu/kmc/student/loon/acad/strat/time_manage.html, http://www.time-management-guide.com/,http://www.nwlink.com/~donclark/leader/leadtime.html

Subject: Gas Prices

This is Rediculous!!!!!!!! Gas is up WAy to high and i have a v-8 that likes to drink gas. the last time i looked at gas today in elderado it was about 2.85 for unleaded and over 3 dollars for premium gas. In 2001 when the world trade center went down, the war in afganistan was declared, then on september 11th in "wichita" EVERYBODY" had completely panicked and there was car wars at every gas station that i could see and it was a very big wakeup call and a huge nightmare for the united states of america and i can remember right when the second plane hit the second tower. If i had the power to change gas prices i would make the gas prices do down to about .50 a gallon. But if there was something i could do like maybe one day from now.... i would just throw out 50$ quick trip cards to everybody everyday and any and any place. this is america and it is land of the free and proud if i could just do that one thing with gas prices it would make things a whole lot easier and a whole lot cheaper, here are some links to community service! http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/positive/family/volunteer.html, http://archives.umc.org/interior.asp?ptid=1&mid=6531, http://www.aarp.org/about_aarp/community_service/, http://www.teenink.com/Community/, http://www.shcstheheart.org/flash.html

Coping With change

The Biggest change that occurred last year happened in early June. It was right after kelly and I started dating, and Kelly moved in with me in my parents house. it wasn't difficult at all! it was so nice and basically the best thing that ever happened to me. change can be hard for me but it can be easy at the same time as well. I've had to make changes on things that have been very difficult to do in some cases. but then again I've had to make changes on things that were a piece of cake, it was just a walk in the park. change is always necessary to do in everything a person does there's changes in life that can even be tying a shoe different or shifting gears in a car it can be a complete number of different things. college isn't a walk in the park, there are obligations and duties expected of you that is very important and a lot of it is hard work. High school is nothing compared to college. I ran into a buddy of mine at work the other night and he said "butler is like doing college over again" and i said "ha ha your funny". The only major change that i with the college is just a lot more driving and more walking. As a matter of fact i Have initiated change around others especially at work when we clean theatres or work concession, for example, in concession, degreaser doesn't clean butter worth a crap, but pour a half a cup of carbonated water on that stuff and it gets it the first time, and it has made the cleaning counters and what not so much easier, others at work have really like my idea of cleaning with carbonated water!!!! and when we was cleaning theatres one day i took 10 trash cans and put two in each of the big theatre and that has made people realize that there is easier ways to clean theatres!!!Butler was Stressful at first but but now its not that bad at all! i like this school, I've had family members go here and they have never said a bad word about it at all. The most anxiety is that its more intense and more important, and my future is riding on this right now. here are some links of how to cope with change...http://ezinearticles.com/?Coping-with-Change:-Develop-Your-Personal-Strategy&id=51313, http://womentodaymagazine.com/relationships/coping.html, http://www.extension.umn.edu/distribution/familydevelopment/components/7269-3.html, http://kthdsn.com/blog/coping-with-change,
